Prep time: 5 minutes

Cook time: 1.5-2 hours

Grill Temp: 225

Ingredients for smoked cream cheese

1 - 8-ounce block of Philadelphia cream cheese

Olive oil as a binder

Your favorite BBQ rub. I like Meat Church Texas Sugar

How to prepare Smoked Cream Cheese

Apply olive oil to 8-ounce block of Philadelphia cream cheese. Coating all sides. Sprinkle on generously your favorite BBQ rub. For this one I used the amazing Meat Church Texas Sugar. Score the top layer of the cream cheese this will allow the cheese to open up.

Place in a disposable foil pan, or aluminum foil, I use a cast iron fajita skillet.

How long to smoke cream cheese

Smoke at 225 degrees for approximately an hour and a half to two hours. I made this on my Pit Boss 820 pellet grill.

Cool and Serve:

Once your smoked cream cheese has reached your desired level of smokiness, carefully remove it from the grill using heatproof gloves or tools. Allow the cream cheese to cool for a few minutes before serving. The center will remain creamy while the outer layer has a beautiful smoky crust.

What to put on Smoked Cream Cheese?

For an extra kick I like to add roasted pineapple and habanero glaze on top. I like to serve mine with ritz crackers. You need to try the roasted pineapple and habanero glaze it is a game changer.

Get Creative:

Don't hesitate to experiment with additional ingredients like chopped herbs, diced jalapeños, or a sprinkle of bacon bits for extra flavor dimensions.

Try these variations of smoked cream cheese.

1. Everything Bagel Seasoning

This popular blend includes sesame seeds, poppy seeds, dried garlic, dried onion, and sea salt. It adds a savory, crunchy texture that pairs well with the creaminess of the cheese.

2. Paprika and Cayenne Pepper

For a smoky and slightly spicy kick, mix paprika and cayenne pepper. The paprika enhances the smokiness, while the cayenne adds a touch of heat.

3. Garlic and Herb

A classic combination that includes minced garlic, dried or fresh herbs like thyme, rosemary, and parsley. This mix offers a fragrant and flavorful boost.

4. Honey and Chili Flakes

For a sweet and spicy contrast, drizzle honey over the cream cheese and sprinkle with chili flakes. The sweetness balances the smokiness and spice perfectly.

5. BBQ Rub

Use your favorite BBQ rub to give the cream cheese a savory, smoky, and slightly sweet flavor profile. Look for a rub that includes brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder.

6. Italian Seasoning

A blend of basil, oregano, thyme, rosemary, and marjoram works wonderfully to add an aromatic, herbaceous touch to smoked cream cheese.

7. Ranch Seasoning

Ranch seasoning mix adds a tangy and herbaceous flavor that pairs well with the creamy texture of the cheese.

8. Lemon Zest and Dill

For a fresh and zesty flavor, mix lemon zest and dried dill. This combination is particularly delightful when paired with smoked salmon.

9. Cinnamon and Sugar

For a sweet and slightly smoky dessert option, sprinkle cinnamon and sugar over the cream cheese. This is a great choice for spreading on bagels or crackers.

10. Black Pepper and Sea Salt

A simple yet effective seasoning, coarse black pepper and sea salt enhance the natural flavors of the smoked cream cheese without overpowering it.
